The client is under a physician's care for diabetes, which she states is controlled by oral medication. Vital signs obtained at the start of the appointment included a blood pressure of 138/88 mm Hg; pulse rate of 76, regular and strong; and regular respirations of 16. The client states that she ate breakfast about 2 hours before her appointment; her most recent blood glucose reading is 100 mg/dL.
