A group of film directors and screenwriters who were blacklisted in Hollywood during the late 1940s and 1950s because of their alleged communist ties or sympathies.
Blacklist
The industry-wide purge of alleged Communist influence between 1947 and 1959. All told, about three hundred writers, directors, producers, and actors were rendered unemployable following accusations regarding their political and/or union affiliations.
