An increasing number of clients that have both substance abuse and mental health problems are being diagnosed.These dually diagnosed clients generally do not have specific treatment programs that address both issues of substance abuse and mental illness.Although it seems sensible to have treatments tailored to patients who are dually diagnosed,for the post part these types of treatment programs do not exist,and dually diagnosed patients often do not get all the care they need.Discuss at least two of the reasons why this is so,and discuss the likely impact this lack of treatment has on this client group.
