Exhibit 10-9
Two major automobile manufacturers have produced compact cars with the same size engines. We are interested in determining whether or not there is a significant difference in the MPG (miles per gallon) of the two brands of automobiles. A random sample of eight cars from each manufacturer is selected, and eight drivers are selected to drive each automobile for a specified distance. The following data show the results of the test.
-Refer to Exhibit 10-9. The test statistic is
NMR Data
Information derived from Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, used to determine the structure of molecules.
Singlet
In quantum mechanics, a state in which all electrons in an atom or molecule are spin-paired, leading to no net spin.
Triplet
A term in quantum mechanics referring to an electron configuration with three possible orientations, or a state with a spin multiplicity of three.
Spectral Data
Information obtained from analyzing the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter, used to determine composition, structure, and physical properties.
