Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is a learning process that occurs when two stimuli are repeatedly paired; a response that is at first elicited by the second stimulus is eventually elicited by the first stimulus alone.
Conditioned Stimulus (CS)
A stimulus that was once neutral but, after being paired with a fundamental stimulus, ultimately induces a learned reaction.
Unconditioned Stimulus (US)
In classical conditioning, a stimulus that unconditionally—naturally and automatically—triggers a response.
Conditioned Response (CR)
A learned response to a previously neutral stimulus that, after being repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus, elicits a reaction.
