Paul feels as though the U.S. government is no longer listening to the people. He believes that his right to privacy is violated every day with the use of cameras and data collection methods that infringe upon the rights of everyday citizens. He has worked at a government agency for many years and has seen firsthand the disregard for rights of individuals. The government has used the ongoing war in Afghanistan as an excuse for their overarching data collection practices. Paul decides to release all of the information collected by the United States to the government of a foreign adversary to use with it as the officials deem appropriate. He has much of the information stored on several hard drives and intends to send it to foreign government officials and excerpts of what he has collected to news reporters.
