Urine Culture
A laboratory test in which urine is placed on a growth medium and bacteria are allowed to grow for 24 to 48 hours. Any large growths of bacteria are then identified. Urine cultures are often followed by a sensitivity or susceptibility test to determine which antibiotic will be most effective against the bacteria.
