Identify the labeled structure(s) in each of the following questions.
-Identify the structure(s) indicated by Label S.
Euchromatin
A loosely coiled chromatin that is generally capable of transcription. Compare with heterochromatin.
Heterochromatin
Heterochromatin is a tightly packed form of DNA, which makes it transcriptionally inactive, contributing to the regulation of genes and maintenance of chromosome structure.
Kinases
Enzymes that catalyze the transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to acceptor molecules. See protein kinases. Compare with phosphatases.
Phosphate Group
A functional group consisting of a phosphorus atom covalently bonded to four oxygen atoms, critical in the structure of nucleic acids and ATP.
