-A machinist has flat metal plate that is 8.312 cm thick. He laminates the metal plate with four more layers that are 1.718 cm, 2.854 cm, 4.930 cm, and 4.291 cm thick. He then grinds off 3.090 cm from the top of the plate, then
2.285 cm more, and finally another 6.925 cm. Find the new thickness of the plate.
