Through e-mails, blogs, Internet bulletin boards and Instant Messaging, cyber bullies can cast their wrath instantly-and anonymously. These tactics have far-reaching impacts on the juvenile community." Although intervention against bullies is desirable from the standpoint of the victims, it is also beneficial to the aggressive students, who are much more likely than other students to increase their antisocial behaviors. Research has found that bullying can be an early warning sign of later criminal behavior (Fox et al. 2003). In one study, approximately 60 percent of the boys whom researchers classified as bullies in grades six through nine had been convicted of at least one crime by age 24, compared with 23 percent of the boys not classified as either bullies or victims. Furthermore, 40 percent of the boys classified as bullies had three or more convictions by age 24, compared with 10 percent of those who were neither bullies nor victims of bullying (Olweus, Limber, and Mihalic 1999). Being bullied can also lead its victims to turn their anger and frustration outward.
