The 1986 Attorney General's Commission on Pornography was implemented by President Reagan. It started with the assumption that porn was dangerous and needed to be contained, and gathered information from people who supported restricting sexually oriented materials rather than using findings from social science. The commission came to the opposite conclusion of the 1970 commission's findings and deemed some types of pornography to be forms of sexual violence.
