A teacher wishes to test the effects of using reinforcement versus a conventional method for maintaining classroom deportment. Twenty different teachers are instructed on the techniques to be used in the study; 10 on the conventional method and 10 on using reinforcement. Data was gathered on the number of minutes of attentive behavior in an hour sample taken from a class of each teacher when the classes were being taught the same material. The classrooms were chosen because they were not significantly different in terms of socioeconomic status or past educational experiences. The data are as follows:
