The Answer is The specific strategy chosen by researchers for their coding process in qualitative data analysis will depend largely on two things: (a) the type of data; and (b) the types of coding categories of interest. For the type of data, a main consideration is whether the data is written (e.g., interview transcripts) or non-written (e.g., visual images). For the types of coding categories, two main frameworks are presented in the chapter (we recommend that one of the two be identified in the answer).
