White supremacy and its historical legacy in the U.S. remains too often unidentified or concealed behind the blanket phrases "hate speech" or "hate groups." Consequently, conversations are easily deflected away from the voices of people of color and towards immaterial conversations about "free speech," with the result of allowing white nationalists to claim victimhood and dominate public debate. Do you agree? Why or why not?
