On April 7, 1997, two players from opposing teams in a professional hockey match were involved in a fistfight. What made this fight notable was that the two players, Wayne and Keith Primeau were brothers. Outside of hockey, Wayne and Keith were (and are to this day) close friends. They did not fight because they were angry at one another. In fighting each other, they were breaking the rules of hockey, as well as the expectations that most people have of how brothers act toward one another. From a sociological point of view, they can be seen to be conforming to which of the following?
Suprachiasmatic Nucleus
A region of the brain in the hypothalamus responsible for controlling circadian rhythms.
Retinal Proteins
A group of proteins in the retina that play a crucial role in vision by converting light into signals that can be interpreted by the brain.
Melatonin
A hormone produced by the pineal gland that regulates sleep-wake cycles, also known as the sleep hormone.
Neural Activation Theory
A theory suggesting that dreams are a result of the brain's attempt to make sense of neural activity during sleep.
