New Perspectives? Chapter 17 ends the discussion of the origin and evolution of the universe. Galaxy and star formation, as well as the origin of planetary systems, were discussed in earlier chapters. It is perhaps time to reflect upon what has been learned. There is an oft-quoted line in T.S. Eliot's poem Little Gidding (1942): "And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time."
