Definitions:

Balk

The action taken by customers who decide not to enter a queue or a service system because it appears too long or slow.

Renege

In service systems, the action by which a customer decides to leave or abandon the queue before receiving service.

Queue Discipline

The rule or method used to select the order in which units are selected for service when they have been waiting in line.

Arrival Population

The group of entities, such as people or items, arriving at a service system or facility, ready to be processed or serviced.
