Qualitative research differs from other forms of observation in that it is both a data-collecting and a theory-generating activity.
Deskilling
Refers to the process by which work tasks are broken into simple routines requiring little training to perform. Deskilling is usually accompanied by the use of machinery to replace labor wherever possible and increased management control over workers.
Complex Tasks
Activities or problems that require a high level of cognitive processing, involving multiple steps, decision making, or the integration of various skills and knowledge.
Simple Routines
Basic, repeatable actions or practices that individuals regularly follow in their daily lives.
Division of Labor
The allocation of different tasks or jobs to different people or groups, usually based on specialization.
