The result can be degradation of the natural capital that keeps us alive and supports our lifestyles and economies. No one knows how long we can continue degrading the earth's natural capital by living off of nature's ecological credit card as our population and resource use continues to grow. But there are warning signs that nature may be calling in some of our ecological debts.
