The Answer is In my close friendship, I often experience the relational dialectic of autonomy and connection. This means that I sometimes feel the tension between wanting to maintain my independence and individuality while also desiring to be closely connected and involved with my friend. This can manifest in conflicts over how much time we spend together, how much we share with each other, and how much we prioritize our own needs versus the needs of the friendship.

In my romantic relationship, I also experience the dialectic of openness and closedness.
