Alex was a typically developing 13 year old when he was involved in a serious car accident resulting in traumatic brain injury.Prior to the accident,he enjoyed school: his grades were at or above average and he had many friends who thought of him as talkative and funny.By the time Alex returned to school,his visible injuries had healed.Alex's friends said that he looked like Alex,but no longer seemed like Alex.They were especially disturbed by his tendency to physically lash out at them and exhibit tantrums when expected to work.
-It is important for Alex's teacher and peers to recognize that his behavioural changes are temporary and that they will gradually dissipate.
