Definitions:

SAE J1939

Covers both the hardware and software protocols used on the current CAN 2.0 platform for medium-/heavy-truck data bus. A J1939 truck data bus is accessed by connecting to an EST to a nine-pin Deutsch black (pre-2014) or green (post-2014) connector. Post-2014 Volvo-Mack applications require a J1962 connector.
