Nonvoluntary Euthanasia

Euthanasia performed when the consent of the patient is unavailable, such as when the patient is comatose or lacks the capacity to make decisions.

Advance Directive

A legal document in which a person specifies what actions should be taken for their health if they are no longer able to make decisions because of illness or incapacity.

Active Euthanasia

The deliberate action taken with the intention of ending a life to relieve intractable suffering.
