Genetic Equilibrium
A condition in which the frequency of alleles in a population remains stable from generation to generation in the absence of disturbing factors.
Allele Frequencies
A measure of the relative frequency of an allele (variant of a gene) at a genetic locus in a population, expressed as a proportion or a percentage.
Directional Selection
The gradual replacement of one phenotype with another because of environmental change that favors phenotypes at one of the extremes of the normal distribution. Compare with stabilizing selection and disruptive selection.
