Net pen and open pond aquaculture are technologically simple and inexpensive to set up and operate.However,they pose some significant environmental challenges.For three challenges-displacement of native habitat,generation of large volumes of waste,and potential escape of non-native species-explain why they are a problem and how the challenge can be addressed to make net pen and open pond aquaculture systems more sustainable.
