However, more recent research has noted some limitations. First, the link between life change scores and development of health issues is relatively weak-most people are able to undergo major life events without developing serious health problems. Another issue is that the life events approach assumes that life events have the same impact on everyone. However, the physiological and psychological effects of a stressor might actually vary widely from one person to another and may be exacerbated or diminished by situational factors. Finally, the life events approach assumes that positive and negative life events are equally harmful to health, whereas, newer research suggests that negative life events have a more adverse effect on health than positive events.
