An important component of social structure is status, or the recognized position that a person occupies within society. Societies recognize two kinds of status, one attached to a person from birth called status and the other based on a person's specific actions called status.
Classical Conditioning
A conditioning method where two stimuli are consistently associated, leading to the response initially triggered by the second stimulus to be later triggered by the first stimulus independently.
Fixed-Interval Schedule
A schedule of reinforcement where the first response is rewarded only after a specified amount of time has elapsed, resulting in a pause-and-burst pattern of behavior.
Operant Conditioning
A learning process through which the strength and frequency of a behavior are modified by the behavior's consequences, such as reward or punishment.
