There are competing conclusions about the nature of listening styles. Watson, Baker, and Weaver (1995) identify action-oriented, time-oriented, people-oriented, and content-oriented listening. Bodie, Worthington, and Gearhart (2010) identify task listening, critical listening, rational listening, and analytical listening.
