El Día de las Madres se celebra (is celebrated) en Guatemala el 10 de mayo. Durante (during) este día, muchas personas no trabajan en el país. Las tiendas (stores) están abiertas (are open) todo el día para que la gente pueda (so that people can) comprar regalos. El regalo más (most) popular para las madres son las rosas rojas (red roses). Los hijos y las hijas, padres y otros parientes hacen (throw) una gran fiesta en honor a las madres. A veces también llegan a la fiesta los tíos y las tías. Los hijos y otros parientes preparan comidas típicas (typical foods) especialmente para las madres. Durante (During) este día, las madres no necesitan trabajar en casa. El Día de las Madres es un día muy especial para las madres porque es el día en que (in which) toda la familia le dice (tells) a la mamá que ella es una persona muy especial y muy querida (loved).
