Hay muchos estereotipos (stereotypes) respecto a (regarding) la familia hispana típica (typical). Muchas personas creen que el hombre siempre es la figura principal de la casa. Según ellos, es el hombre que trabaja y protege (protects) a la familia y, es la mujer que cuida a (takes care of) su esposo y a sus hijos. Ella siempre es sumisa (submissive) respecto a su esposo y nunca toma (makes) decisiones para la familia. Es cierto (true) que este estereotipo existe en algunas (some) familias, pero una situación más común (more common) es que el padre y la madre trabajan juntos (together) para mantener (to support) a su familia. Los dos trabajan fuera (outside) de la casa y los dos cuidan a (take care of) sus hijos y toman decisiones para la familia. Hoy también hay más y más familias que son monoparentales (single-parent) porque los esposos están divorciados (divorced).
