Briefly describe how you should respond if audience members are carrying on a distracting side conversation.
If audience members are carrying on a distracting side conversation, begin by pausing until their talking is the only sound in the room. This will usually give them the message, and they will stop. If they keep talking, try holding a hand out to them or stop and say something similar to, "Excuse me, could I ask you to please hold your comments until the end? Thank you."
