First, the supervisor and the subordinate must agree and set objectives that need to be achieved. These objectives should be specific, time defined, challenging and measurable. They should set standards and then choose relevant actions. During the second stage, the student should perform the tasks to achieve the set objectives and standards according to the chosen actions, while he supervisor provides the relevant support to achieve these objectives. Finally, the two parties must review the results against the set objectives, discuss implications of the results and renew the MBO cycle. Students should come up with a specific example to illustrate this process.
