Since racial and ethnic categorization is complex, should we just completely eliminate these categorizations? Should the U.S. Census, application forms, and so on stop asking about race and ethnicity? What would be the pros and cons of doing so?

Slave Rebellions

Acts of organized resistance by enslaved people against their enslavement and oppression, occurring in various forms and locations throughout history.

Compromise of 1850

An agreement attempting to ease tensions between slave and free states surrounding the territories acquired during the Mexican-American War.

Missouri Compromise

An agreement passed in 1820 admitting Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state, to maintain the balance of power between North and South.
