Avoidant-Insecurely Attached

A type of attachment style where individuals tend to maintain their distance from others and have difficulty in establishing close emotional relationships.

Anxious Ambivalent-Insecurely Attached

A type of attachment style characterized by strong emotional ties coupled with anxiety, fear of rejection, and feelings of unworthiness in relationships.

Securely Attached

An attachment category describing babies who typically show distress on separation from the mother in the strange situation test, but who greet her happily on her return, usually seeking comfort by reaching to be picked up. Once reassured, they tend to return to exploring.
