The Answer is The family is considered a system because individual members are parts that make up the whole of the family. These parts and the relationships between them are mutually interdependent, meaning that the relationship between two members will affect the family as a whole, as well; the actions and states of individual family members affect the whole family. Families self-regulate in that they adapt to situations that come about. For example, a younger family member may get a job to supplement the family income if a parent loses his/her job. Families are hierarchical in that parents are at least formal authority figures over children. Lastly, families share a common fate and are therefore oriented toward similar goals.
